Hello folks,
Today I wont be writing about my self.Instead I will write about a person who has greatly inspired me.
Let me give you some hints about him.He is one of the world’s biggest philanthropist, a social activist and a humanitarian. Pakistan is proud to have a person like him working for charity. Give yourself a big applause if you have guessed him .If not so let me tell you that he is none other than Abdul Sattar Edhi.
He has dedicated his life to aiding the poors and has opened a charitable organization named after him (EDHI foundation). He had only five thousand rupees which is approximately equal to fifty dollars when he started his work.However his vision helped him achieve his target. Regarded as a guardian for the poor, Edhi began receiving numerous donations, which allowed him to expand his services. Edhi foundation is a place where orphans are kept as children and are provided with good food and education. Moreover the organization has helped the widows and the old people who don’t have any relatives or family to look after them. Since its inception, the Edhi Foundation has rescued over 20,000 abandoned infants, rehabilitated over 50,000 orphans and has trained over 40,000 nurses.
Edhi is recognized and appreciated throughout the globe for his generosity. The Edhi Foundation has also worked extensively in international relief, including donating to victims of Hurricane Katrina, cyclone relief in Bangladesh, aid to tsunami-impacted regions in 2003 and ambulance services in Afghanistan. The Edhi foundation has centers in the United States, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Canada and the United Kingdom. It is truly hard to kind people like him who live and work for others betterment. Abdul Sattar Edhi is a very simple person who lives in an apartment with two rooms and has never taken salary from his organization.
He has received a lot of honors and awards for his work. We should pray for his better health and a long life because it’s really difficult to find people like him in this materialistic world.Edhi you are an inspiration for every Pakistani. God bless you.
